Ashley's 27th Month Update

What a month we've had! Spring Break started us off with a busy and fun filled week in Houston! I don't know who had more fun Ashley or Henry & Emma. All week long the 3 cousins were connected at the hip from morning until night! They played, ran, skateboarded, read books, and ate together for over 5 straight days! Ashley had so much fun going to Build-a-Bear with Emma and riding the carousel at the mall. She loved eating Mimi's "cupcake" as she referred to the birthday cake. And a highlight was going to the Aquarium in downtown Houston. Ashley is still talking about going up and down on the Seahorse when she road another carousel and seeing all the sharks in the shark tank while riding the train. She loved riding the train. Ashley really had a good time! The 3 cousins got really excited again when a few weeks later Ashley got to spend the night at Henry & Emma's house. Apparently Ashley loved sleeping in Emma's room, had a really big breakfast, and had no problem with Hans. Ashley still talks about Hans being outside. And even 2 weeks later will say "night-night Hans."

And when we got back home the fun didn't end! We've been enjoying time outside. Ashley's been on several trips to Home Depot with Daddy. One Saturday morning she ran up to me and said, "Have a great day! I go to Home Depot with Daddy!" and headed straight for the door. It was hilarious! Another weekend we told her we were going to Baby Depot and the entire time we were gone she insisted we were going to Home Depot. Daddy finished working on the play set and Ashley's been climbing up the ladder and has mastered the big girl slide! We planted some seeds in the playhouse and are anxiously waiting for flowers to appear!

Ashley is really into playing with her baby dolls & animals with blankets. She lays them all down, covers them up, pats them on their back, and says "night-night." Ashley's teachers have even commented on how helpful she is in her classroom. She likes to help pass out snacks. But when it comes to the baby dolls you'd better watch out! She does not like to share the baby dolls and blankets with her friends at school!

Ashley's biggest news is moving into her big girl room. She has had no problem moving from the crib to the big girl bed. We thought we would transition her by tucking some of her animals in to bed the first night and then letting her sleep in the bed the next night, but Ashley would have no part of that. As soon as her animals were tucked in she started screaming "No night-night! No night-night!" So we quickly grabbed the animals and went back to the crib. The next night we asked her if she was going to sleep in the big girl bed and she said "yep!" She climbed in, read her books, said her prayers, and laid down without getting up at all. Nap time is a whole other situation! The first time she was supposed to take a nap in the big girl bed we found her standing in her rocking chair. 20 minutes later when we checked on her she was riding her "bike" around the room. She put up a little fuss and then slept for 2 hours. The next day we heard "Mommy help me!. Mommy help me!" Ashley was stuck between her bed and her bookshelf, but by the time we got in her room she had managed to get back in the bed. So nights are going great, but there's room for improvement when it comes to taking naps!

Easter was a fun filled time for us also. I had put out the jelly bean jar in the kitchen. While we were working in her big girl room I heard Ashley drag the step stool across the kitchen floor. When I went to check on her she was trying to reach for the jelly bean jar. So now the jelly bean jar has been moved to the back of the cabinets! We then enjoyed cupcakes with jelly beans on top! Ashley woke up to find the Easter Bunny had left a basket full of treasures! She found more jelly beans and insisted on adding these to the jar! She has also really enjoyed the chocolates the Easter Bunny put in the basket along with a coloring book, bunny ears, and a magnifying glass. Ashley ate most of her Easter dinner with us which was pretty impressive. She liked the ham. After her nap Ashley and Daddy grew some bugs from capsules. Ashley was more impressed than Daddy.

Another fun, busy month. Hopefully things will slow down a little bit in the next few weeks!
