A month of big changes! Ashley can now spot a hotel a mile away and frequently asks when she can sleep at a hotel again. With the move to a new house several nights were spent at hotels. She was very interested in eating breakfast at a hotel. When we walked in she pointed out the restaurant every time. It absolutely made her day to be able to eat breakfast at the hotel. If everything was that simple!
Ashley spent a weekend with Aunt M, Uncle “Bob” (Rob), Henry, and Emma. Hans, their dog, didn’t seem to bother her too much. Ashley was happy to sleep in Emma’s room, a great place to be when Hans would come in the house. And Ashley can’t stop talking about going camping like Henry and Emma, as Emma was getting ready to go to camp while she was there. Ashley made an unexpected trip back to Mimi and Willy’s house and was thrilled to swim in their pool. Some days she got to go swimming twice in one day. Wow! She and Willy enjoyed tacos, too!
On the road again, Ashley spent several days at Maw Maw and Paw Paw’s house playing with Aunt Ne. Maw Maw had a 10 foot high water slide that Ashley had a blast playing on the whole time. Ashley also enjoyed the cookies, chocolate cake, and staying up late.
Then, on to the new house! The first day in the house Ashley and Addie were standing on Ashley’s bed looking out the window. Ashley got so excited and ran to find Mommy saying, “We’re farmers! We have a squirrel. Can we feed it?” We’re not exactly farmers although our yard is a lot bigger than it used to be! Ashley had really been missing several of her toys, the green guitar in particular. As soon as she walked in her new room she found the green guitar. She didn’t put it down for 3 days! She also really enjoyed her dress-up clothes. She has changed outfits multiple times a day and has tried to persuade Addie to join her. Most of the time Addie participates. More than once Ashley has woken up in the morning wearing pajamas under her pumpkin fairy costume. According to her it helps her sleep. (Maybe more of us need pumpkin fairy costumes to help us sleep!)
Ashley loves to play upstairs, she is so happy to have an upstairs to go to! Currently Ashley is hiding a stuffed animal tiger upstairs that Addie is not fond of at all, one way to keep Addie downstairs most of the time. One afternoon Mommy heard Ashley and Addie upstairs playing. When listening closer Ashley told Addie to get shoes on. The next thing heard from Ashley was, “Addie, stomp the bug! Get it Addie. Stomp the bug!” Only to find Addie wearing Ashley new bunny slippers! Luckily the bug was faster than Addie’s stomping!
Ashley really enjoys her new playroom with all her kitchen and Bitty Baby toys. She has opened her own restaurant called “Sh-lot-keys” where she serves hotdogs, peas, and ice cream sundaes. Sometimes the ice cream sundaes come with pickles.
Ashley’s also found time to have fun away from the new house. She’s had 2 opportunities to play at Paradise Pond, what a treat! She loves the bounce house and large selection of dress-up clothes. She also went to a tea party, with more dress-up clothes! She got a little confused and asked for a pink cupcake when she really wanted a chocolate cupcake which caused a bit of distress for a few moments. Ashley also made a trip to the library to turn in her summer reading log. She got a bucket full of goodies and a ticket to the circus. The circus countdown has begun!
