Ashley's 53rd Month Update

Ashley is a really happy girl.  She’s happy to see you.  She’s happy to sing for you.  She’s happy to help get the groceries in the house and put away.  Now that’s a happy girl (and very helpful)!  She really enjoys being a big girl and a big sister to Addie.

Ashley had her dance recital this past month.  She was excited all week leading up to Saturday.  She had been showing us different dance steps and we knew she was dancing to a song about “the twist” and the “Good Ship Lollipop.”  She would only show us a few steps at a time and not the whole dance.  When Saturday came around she could hardly contain her excitement!  Her recital was at TCU and on the way she took a nice nap to get her all set for the afternoon’s event.  She had her make-up done, her hair fixed, her costume on, and shoes ready to dance.  Ashley performed very well with her peers.  She enjoyed being on stage.  She was very excited when she spotted us in the audience.  The dance recital was a wonderful afternoon for all!

The following week Ashley had another recital at her school.  Ashley didn’t know Mommy was coming to watch and was thrilled when Mommy walked through the door.  She was very particular with all of her dance steps to get each one right.  She really enjoys her dance class.

Ashley’s class at school has really enjoyed this past month.  They have had a Cinco de Mayo party, Splash Day, and enjoyed special guests coming to their school.  When Addie was sick she was able to stay home an extra day, but her friends really missed her and were so glad to see Ashley the following morning.  Ashley had also been talking a lot about having a play date with one of her friends at school.  It finally happened and Ashley was so excited! She talked about it for almost a week afterwards.  She’s already planning the next one!

Ashley enjoyed helping Mommy prepare for Addie’s birthday par-“tea.”  Ashley helped put together teapots and decorate.  Ashley was also very excited to order the balloons.  But the best part of all was getting to go to the Bitty Baby store to help Addie pick out her very own Bitty Baby.  That morning Ashley didn’t know where they were going but practically squealed with delight when she found out!  (She had been a little bummed because earlier in the week she had fallen asleep in the car when we had driven past the Bitty Baby store.)  Ashley had so much fun celebrating Addie’s birthday.  Every step of the way Ashley would turn to Addie and tell her what was going to happen next at the party.  Ashley tried really hard to encourage Addie to blow out her birthday candles, but Addie wouldn’t do it.  Ashley was proud to be able to help Addie blow out the candles.

Ashley spent a few days at Mimi and Willy’s house.  When she pulled into the driveway she said, “I’m so excited to be here!”  She had a great time swimming, reading, getting into Mommy’s old doll collection, playing with the “little people” and building all different kinds of puzzles.  Every day she was completely worn out!  She had a great time!
