What a great month for Ashley! She has had to put up with a lot of sick people this month. Everyone in the house was sick this month except for Ashley. She took it all in stride and made the most of her time at home.
Ashley was super excited to go to Mimi and Willy's house for Thanksgiving. She got to spend quality time with her cousins Henry and Emma. Henry is always so agreeable to do just about anything Ashley wants to do. They read books, played games, took walks outside, and had an all-around great time together. Ashley particularly enjoyed making funny faces for Aunt M and Uncle Rob. They all worked together to decorate a gingerbread house and every one was full of candy at the end of the night!
Ashley and Mommy had a great time shopping for tap shoes. We found the most beautiful dance store Mommy had ever been in! Ashley and Mommy wondered around the store looking at all the different costumes. Ashley was so excited to get her tap shoes that she wore them the rest of the day at home!
Another swimming session has come to a close. Ashley is a hoot to watch in and out of the water. She is trying really hard to get herself dressed for swimming, but swimsuits can be tricky! And with the time change we now come home in the dark. Ashley always says it's scary to drive in the dark. But she loves to spot all the Christmas lights. She'll say, "When you see more lights say 'More!' okay Mommy!" We will shout "more" all the way home!
Christmas lights are a big hit with Ashley. She was outside while Daddy and the neighbors were putting out the lights. Every night she has to check to see if the neighbors Rudolph and Frosty are up and going. And every morning she tells us they are down on the ground resting for the next night.
Ashley was a huge help to Mommy when it was time to decorate the Christmas tree. Ashley did a wonderful job of putting different ornaments all around the bottom part of the tree and spacing the ornaments very nicely. She also decorated the Christmas tree in her room all by herself. She does have a small problem keeping Addie from taking the ornaments off of her tree and moving them to Addie's room. Ashley is very patient to search Addie's room and take them back to her own tree.
Artie, our Elf on the Shelf, has also made a very big impression with Ashley this year. Ashley is eager to find Artie every morning. Ashley pointed out that Artie really likes to sit on wreaths throughout the house. The first weekend Artie was with us Ashley made it a point to tell Artie every time Addie did something wrong. For some reason she forgot to tell him the things she had done wrong. I wonder why?
For several months Ashley has been talking about the order of the holidays. Every time we would come to Christmas she would always say she was not going to sit on Santa's lap, but stand by his knee. And when it came time to go see Santa that is exactly what she did. She told him she wanted a green ball, grocery cart, and golf clubs. She also told him Addie wanted a baby doll. When we were done she said, "I did a great job. I didn't cry for Santa!" She was so proud of herself for not crying. At Breakfast with Santa and it was her turn to get a present from Santa, again she was not going to sit on his lap. She very happily stood right next to him and said "Thank you" for her present. It was a very fun morning of food, crafts, and friends. She's still talking about the doughnut holes she took for Santa!
