Ashley is a busy girl! Every morning when she wakes up she says, "Where we going today?" She is always ready for a new adventure. Ashley is really excited Addie is going to school with her now. She is constantly telling us Addie's in Ms. Kelli's class. During her parent teacher conference Ms. Ash said Ashley has a big vocabulary. Reading all those books is paying off! Ashley also is learning where all the states are on the map. She knows almost all of the south east by shape and most of the west. A few of the northeast states are easier to identify than the others. She keeps asking Ms. Ash to work on the northern states, but that's going to have to wait a few more weeks. Ashley's very nurturing to her friends in her class. She is always there to help a friend in need. Ashley is also a talker. Well, as a teacher you know what that means!!
This Thanksgiving we traveled to Leesville to visit Maw Maw and Paw Paw. When we got to Leesville Maw Maw had all her Christmas lights outside turned on. Ashley said, "It's beauuuuuuuuutiful! Maw Maw made Christmas for me!" Ashley loved building a gingerbread house with Aunt Ne. (Which in turn, Ashley now loves to put toy houses together at school according to Ms. Ash.) There was a lot of eating of candy during the process, but enough candy was left to decorate the house! Ashley also loved going to see the animals on Uncle John's farm. She wouldn't touch any of them, but wanted to see what each animal was doing. And Ashley's favorite thing to do while in Leesville was to tell Aunt Ne she loved Uncle John and to tell Uncle John she loved Aunt Ne. The girl knows how to work the room!
We went to visit Santa early this year. We had been talking about it for a couple of days before we went to prepare Ashley. She said she wanted to see Santa's castle and tell him she wanted princesses for Christmas. Once we got there she sat on his lap and immediately put her hand over her eyes. The only way to get her hands out of her face was to give her something to hold. At least the picture turned out better than last year's....do you remember the screaming child?
Ashley helped decorate the Christmas trees in her room and Addie's room. It took a little while longer to get the main family tree decorated. One morning I asked her stand in front of the tree to have her picture taken and she said, "No, Mommy. This is not the Christmas tree. The Christmas tree is in my room and Addie's room." Oh, okay! Every time Ashley sees something Christmas she says, "It's beauuuuuuuuutiful!" She is starting to understand looking for Artie, our Elf on the Shelf, every day. She knows she's supposed to look for him, but not exactly sure what he does. And for the most part she remembers every day to go to the "little house" to find the next number to put an ornament on our advent tree. She knows exactly what number is coming the next day, so don't tell her any otherwise!
We have had really cold weather to get us in the spirit of the season! Ashley loves wearing her new coat, mittens, scarf, and hat. It takes a little longer each morning to get her ready to go out the door, but she sure does look cute and stays warm! Her mittens are a little big and she insists on getting her thumb in the proper hole!
Ashley has now finished another session of swimming lessons and is moving up to the next class. Ashley can now swim across the width of the pool with very little assistance. But the slides are still her favorite part! A big "thank you" to Ms. Barbara for all her encouraging work with Ashley.
