We had a great birthday celebration with Ashley. She was the "sweetest" girl! She took cookies to her friends in her new class at school, but really wasn't sure about giving the cookies to other people. And the morning of her party she ran to the window waiting for Daddy and Willy to come home with her cake and balloons. She finally started saying "Happy Birthday Ashley", instead of "Happy Birthday Henry." She was a little overwhelmed when it was time to open presents and every one was watching her. She turned shy for a minute, ran off, but we finally convinced her to come back. After she would open the wrapping of a gift she would want to open the packaging too. We tried to keep her focused, but that didn't matter when it came to the socks! She opened one gift that was two pairs of socks. She immediately insisted on putting the socks on, pretty much by herself and wore them for the rest of the day! She loved the cupcake cake but didn't really like every one singing to her and had no idea what to do when it came to blowing out the candles. And she knew exactly what to do when it came time to eating the cake! And when she wanted more she would say "Ashley birthday cake?" It was a sad day when all the cake was gone.
Ashley is a very funny girl even when she doesn't realize it! One day when we were walking out of day care she started to walk in the middle of the parking lot by herself. I got her and explained it wasn't safe to walk by herself because all the cars might not see her so she needed to hold my hand. When I was finished with my great explanation I asked "Do you understand?" Ashley looked me right in the eyes, shook her head, and said "Nope!" All I could do was laugh! We're still working on that every day!
Ashley is starting to sing her ABCs. She likes G and P a lot! And the other day she was sitting in her rocking chair "reading" Brown Bear, Brown Bear. It was so cute! She loves to say the color of what ever it is she is looking at. And now she's into a "What's that?" stage. Everything, and I mean everything, she looks at she says "What's that?" Most of the time I answer what it is, but there are a few things I know she knows what they are and so I respond with "What do you think it is?" She'll give me an answer most of the time.
Ashley had her first bounce house experience when she went to our neighbor's birthday party. She loved it! At first she just stood there and watched. Then when she could see what the other children were doing she decided it was time to give it a try. She stood in the bounce house at first and let the other children bounce her and then she started jumping and laughing. She thought it was pretty neat to be able to stand on the inside and look out and see Mommy and Daddy. And at one point she literally rolled out of the bounce house, but "bounced" on the 2 steps leading in and landed on the carpet in front of the bounce house. When she landed she was laughing and there were no bumps or bruises so it was a successful bounce! We literally pulled her away kicking and screaming for more!
