It has been a very busy time for Ashley. She continues to grow and explore every thing. She loves to talk! She can say just about anything and tries to say every thing. Unfortunately Ashley has been suffering from ear infections again. We are very hopeful this latest round of medicine will clear it all up. Fortunately Ashley is a very happy sick child once she gets her medicine flavored! And she always seems to have a sense of humor...at least that's what her teachers at school say!
Ashley spent Thanksgiving in Houston at her Mimi & Willy's house. She had a great time playing with her cousins Henry & Emma. The three of them played and played and played! Ashley slept through Thanksgiving dinner, so she had her own Thanksgiving meal a little later. She actually like the turkey this year! During Thanksgiving she had her first trip to Build-A-Bear. She picked out a bear and Henry named the bear Curly, a perfect name! Henry & Emma were so glad Ashley finally got to go to Build-A-Bear!
At school Ashley and her friends are doing a lot of coloring. She gets to color at home in the bathtub. She did however take an opportunity to color on one of the walls in the house. She was quickly put in time-out and now we talk a lot about coloring only on paper! Maybe Santa will bring her paper to color!
Ashley has really enjoyed the Christmas season so far. Ashley went to see Santa and it was interesting from start to finish! All the way there in the car I would say, "What does Santa say?" and Ashley would say, "Ho, Ho, Ho!" When we got up to Santa Ashley covered her eyes. She started crying when I tried to give her to Santa. We let a couple of other people sit on Santa's lap to see how they reacted. Santa's elf gave Ashley a teddy bear to hopefully stop the crying but it didn't help. I told Ashley it was time to give Santa back his bear and Ashley said held on tight and said "Mine." So I told Santa it was time for a "drop & run." And that's what we did! I dropped Ashley in Santa's lap and the picture was taken. Now the picture hangs on the refrigerator and she says "Ho, Ho, Ho. Cry."
At home Ashley is really enjoying the decorations. She was thrilled to look at the trees and the wreaths. She loves to take the ornaments off the tree, put them on her wrists, come up to us and say "bye-bye." Then she turns around and walks away. It's really funny! And she undecorates and decorates the tree in her room on a daily basis! On the way to the Christmas program at church I told Ashley to look out the window to see all the pretty lights. Ashley would look out the window and say "pretty lights" to everything, including Chicken Express! She didn't quite get the concept of Christmas lights instead of business lights but she had fun. And now when we're in the car at night she is the first to see the lights on every house!
While we were in the car we also got caught in some traffic and Ashley started saying "beep, beep car" to the cars in front of us. When she was in the car with daddy and mommy was in front of her she said "beep, beep mommy car" without being prompted. Pretty funny!
Ashley has completed Water Babies 3 at Aqua Kids. We are very sorry Miss Carly will no longer be Ashley swim teacher, but she has learned so much! Ashley is starting to float on her back all on her own. She is starting to use her arms and kicks her legs while swimming from one point to the other. It is very exciting to see her in the pool! She truly enjoys it. We are taking a very short break and will start Water Tots in January.
This has also been a month of parties! Ashley enjoyed see Henry play basketball and really enjoyed his birthday cake! With some friend's of mommy's Ashley also attended Breakfast with Santa. That was a lot of fun! As soon as Ashley saw Santa she clung to Daddy for dear life! She watched very seriously as each child sat on Santa's lap. Once she realized Santa had a present for her she was willing to sit on his lap, but only long enough to get her present and open it.
Ashley also hosted her first Christmas Cookie Party. With friends, Ashley heard the story of the Gingerbread Boy, made candy cane ornaments, gingerbread magnets, decorated gingerbread stickers, and decorated Gingerbread Boy cookies! It was so much fun! Ashley had a great time! I think her favorite activities were coloring and eating her cookies!
We are looking forward to time off from work and school and celebrating the Christmas season with family!
