Ashley's the happiest girl around town! She loves to laugh and smile. It's so hard to believe she's 16 months old already! This month she had three more teeth appear. She has moved up to the Toddler room at her school with ease. And, she completed the Water Babies 1 swim class. What a month!
As her new teacher said, "Ashley's figuring this whole thing out!" She has her own way to communicate to others her needs. When she wants a drink she stands by the refrigerator. When she's ready to eat she will go to her room, pull open her draw to try to get a bib, but she's not quite big enough to get the bib out yet. Then she will go to her highchair. At school she knows after she washes her hands to go to the table for lunch. Ashley has a few words she will use consistently. She will say "Ma Ma Ma Ma Ma" for Mommy, "Ni Ni" for Night Night, "Na Na" for banana, and she's working on "Hi," but prefers to wave. And her favorite animal noises are the duck, dog, and cow. Recently she has also experiementing with volume! She can get really loud:)
Ashley is like her mother in that she likes a routine! Once she has her shoes on she thinks it's time to leave the house. Usually on a weekday morning the last thing she does before she leaves the house is to put on her shoes. So she thinks the same should happen on a weekend. And every day when she gets home from school she likes to get out of the car, run down the driveway and look for airplanes. She has mastered walking through the garage, up the "steps" and into the house on her own.
Like most babies Ashley loves to be outside. This month she got a new patio set and a slide to play with in the backyard. Mommy and Ashley take frequent trips around the neighborhood on Ashley's bus...that is Ashley rides and Mommy pulls!!! She also attended 2 cookouts and played outside with lots of other kids. Her friend Sophia has a dog named Bailey. Ashley loved chasing Bailey around the yard and in the house. She would giggle any time she touched Bailey. Ashley still doesn't know what to think of Henry & Emma's dog, Hans. Ashley thinks Hans is at his best when he's on the second floor balcony and she's downstairs. (Ashley said, "Thanks Uncle Rob for my first hot dog!)
It's been another fun month with Ashley! We're looking forward to summer fun in only a few short weeks!
