Addie is a very busy girl wherever she goes. She’s talking all the time now, too. Her favorite books right now are about animals, especially a particular a set of 3 books about a bear in the woods. She requests to read them all every night!
Addie is independent! She tries to put on her own clothes even if she has other clothes on already. One afternoon she about had a fit because she couldn’t get her swim diaper on over her clothes! And she loves to put on shoes! It doesn’t matter who’s shoes they are, she will put them on!
We started this month with spring break in Houston with Mimi, Willy, Henry, and Emma. Addie was in a tailspin the entire time trying to keep up with Henry, Emma, and Ashley. She wanted to be exactly where they were, when they were, and what they were! She was worn out by the end of our week. During spring break we took a trip to Build-A-Bear. Addie had the best time building Bunny! It was the first time she was able to do all the parts on her own. She loves her Bunny! We also took a trip to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. This was the perfect place for Addie as she had recently learned to saw “cow.” She was absolutely amazed at all the cows. She couldn’t help but turn and point to say “cow” every 3 seconds. And there were cows everywhere…behind us, in front of us, to the side of us. We had to get out of the way of all those cows! Addie really enjoyed seeing all the different animals. Now we often hear “cow” coming from the backseat!
One of Addie’s springtime books is about a little sheep. In the story the sheep compares itself to the fluffy clouds in the sky. One Sunday we were driving to church and Addie kept saying “sheep, sheep.” Ashley was getting upset because we saw cows, not sheep. We finally realized Addie was pointing to the sky saying “sheep” just like in the book. Another evening we were eating dinner when a neighborhood cat jumped up in the kitchen window seal. Addie was stunned for a few seconds and then started yelling "Cat! Cat!" when it ran away. A few days later we saw a bunny in our yard from the same window. Addie's eyes were locked on that bunny. And with spring here we have a lot of birds around our area. Now every time she sits in her highchair she points to the window looking for the cat, bunny, and birds.
Addie ate her first ice cream cone all by herself this month. She has discovered the wonderful world of ice cream! But she still loves her “nanas” and “ogurt” (yogurt). And it was very difficult to figure out what she kept asking for when she said “fi’s, fi’s” until I pulled out the mini-chocolate chips. We finally figured it out! Like most girls, Addie loves chocolate!
